John R. Biggar has been named executive vice president and chief financial officer of PPL Corp. He has been senior vice president and chief financial officer since 1998.

George P. Clancy has been elected to the board of directors of WGL Holdings Inc., the parent company for Washington Gas Light Co. He is executive vice president and chief lending officer of Chevy Chase Bank, FSB, the largest bank headquartered in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.

T. Graham Edwards has been elected to the Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator board of directors, replacing Donald L. Stokely, who decided not to run for re-election. Edwards is a consultant headquartered in Moncks Corner, S.C., and a former president and chief executive of Santee Cooper.

Albert R. Gamper Jr., chairman, president and chief executive officer of The CIT Group Inc., has been elected to the board of both Public Service Enterprise Group Inc. and its utility operating company Public Service Electric & Gas Co.

Frank Johnson has been appointed president and chief executive officer of CMS Electric and Gas Co., the international electric and gas distribution subsidiary of CMS Energy Corp. He was previously a vice president of the unit, responsible for energy distribution.

Margaret E. McDermid has been named senior vice president for informationtechnology and chief information officer of Dominion Resources Inc., effective January 1. She is currently vice president and chief information officer.

Bryan Moore has been named communications manager by ElectriCities of North Carolina Inc. He succeeds Maureen Shields, who currently serves ElectriCities as a communications consultant.

Michael P. Morrell, senior vice president and chief financial officer of Allegheny Energy Inc., has been appointed president of the company's unregulated supply business, Allegheny Energy Supply Co., effective February 1. He will replace Peter J. Skrgic, who will retire after 37 years with Allegheny.

Jeffrey C. Newman has been elected vice president and treasurer of Madison Gas & Electric Co. effective January 1. A 17-year MG&E veteran, he most recently has been treasurer.

Pepco Leadership Changes Spawned by Generation Sale
Potomac Electric Power Co. this week made several changes in leadership positions which chairman and chief executive John M. Derrick said were in response to "the sale of the company's generating assets to Southern Energy, Inc., and to pursue our new direction."

  • Dennis R. Wraase was elected chief operating officer and will continue as president.

  • Andrew W. Williams has been appointed senior vice president and chief financial officer.

  • William T. Torgerson has been named executive vice president for external affairs and general counsel.

  • William J. Sim has become senior vice president for power delivery.

National Grid Makes Changes in U.S. Leadership
National Grid USA, a wholly owned subsidiary of British utility National Grid Group plc, has announced that four members of its executive team will assume new responsibilities, effective January 1.

  • Michael E. Jesanis has been elected executive vice president of National Grid USA. He will continue to serve as a member of the National Grid USA board. Prior to this appointment, he served as a National Grid USA senior vice president, and chief financial officer.

  • Cheryl A. LaFleur has been elected president of National Grid USA's electricity distribution companies: Massachusetts Electric Co., The Narragansett Electric Co., Granite State Electric Co. and Nantucket Electric Co. She will continue as a National Grid USA senior vice president and a member ofthe National Grid USA board. Previously, LaFleur served as senior vice president, general counsel, and secretary, with responsibility for the company's legal activities, government affairs, and corporate communications.

  • Lawrence J. Reilly has been elected senior vice president and general counsel for National Grid USA. He will continue to serve as a senior vice president and on the National Grid USA board. Prior to his new appointment, Reilly served as president and chief executive officer of the company's electricity distribution subsidiaries.

  • John G. Cochrane has been elected vice president, chief financial officer, and treasurer of National Grid USA. He will also serve on the National Grid USA board. Prior to this appointment, he wasresponsible for the company's non-regulated businesses.
