Oregon Calpine Plant Begins Operations

LCG, August 20, 2002-A 630-megawatt natural gas-fired plant began operations, according to a Calpine press release today.

The Hermiston plant will provide capacity to the California-Oregon border and the Pacific Northwest Mid-Columbia market. It is under a five-year contract with these regions as well as another five-year contract with the Bonneville Power Administration for 150 megawatts of capacity.

Calpine is based in San Jose, California, and has brought almost 3,400 MW in new capacity on line over the last twelve months.
