Duke Energy Renewables Acquires Solar PV Projects in California
LCG, March 7, 2014--Duke Energy Renewables announced yesterday that it has acquired two, 20-MW solar projects located in California from Infigen Energy. The electricity generated from both projects will be sold through 20-year power purchase agreements (PPA?s) with Southern California Edison.
The Pumpjack Solar and Wildwood Solar projects will use solar photovoltaic (PV) technology and are sited in unincorporated areas near Bakersfield, California. The "construction-ready" projects may be operational within the year.
The two projects are Duke?s third and fourth utility-scale solar projects located in California. Duke Energy Renewables' President stated, "The acquisition of Pumpjack and Wildwood will more than double our solar power capacity in California?. We?re pleased to provide an increasing supply of affordable, clean energy to the nation?s number one solar market."
The Duke Energy Renewables portfolio of commercial renewable assets includes 15 wind and 21 solar facilities operating in 12 states, with a total capacity approaching 1,800 MW.
