ERCOT 2017 Spring Quarter Outlook
LCG, March 27, 2017--Earlier this year LCG Consulting published a first quarter (Jan – March 2017) study looking at how the ERCOT grid can cope with strained network conditions. LCG just released a new report that extends the analysis to the 2017 spring season (March through May). Weather is a key factor in considering resource adequacy for the region, and spring is a season that sees significant maintenance work before more extreme summer loading conditions.
This report examines a Base Case, A high Generation Outage Case, and a High Generation Outage/High Load Case. It discusses how prices vary between zones, and what kind of congestion and curtailment stakeholders can expect and where it can be expected.
LCG performed this study using 5-minute dispatch and its proprietary UPLAN Network Power Model. LCG has been modeling energy systems for more than 30 years and continuously sustains the most up-to-date information on every detail of the Texas grid, from minor and major transmission upgrades to gas prices and weather patterns.
If you are interested in receiving the full spring quarter outlook, please contact us at [email protected]. For more in depth analysis, LCG can provide tailored datasets, such as individualized generator performance, hourly prices, and much more.
